Welcome to Karen E. Michaels Photography

Discover the world through my lens, where colors, shapes, and emotions come alive.

My Focus and Style

My photographic work encapsulates the interplay between nature and architecture, combined with a deep understanding of human emotion. Drawing inspiration from my previous studies and professional background, I strive to reflect both the beauty of our environment and the subtleties of human experience.

I embrace vibrant colors and striking shapes, inviting you to see the world through my eyes. Each image tells a story, a moment frozen in time that resonates with feelings of connection and introspection.

A Brief Journey

Over the years, I have had the honor of receiving numerous accolades for my work, including the publication of an original piece in The Advocate in 2002 and exhibitions in spaces such as the Open Door Gallery in Florida. My work has traveled across various exhibits, including a four-year showcase with the Great Explorations Children's Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida.

I have also collaborated with institutions like Art in Embassies for the State Department, and my photography has found a home in permanent displays at Jefferson University’s Honickman Center. Though I no longer participate in competitions, I cherish the recognition I've received, including ten nominations for the Merit of Excellence in The Spider Awards from 2011 to 2019.

In addition to my artistic endeavors, I believe in giving back. I have volunteered my time to document events, such as the Philadelphia Orchestra's Audience Appreciation Day and providing imagery to Congregation Rodeph Shalom, accompanying the thoughtful commentary of architect Michael Hauptman.

Invitation to Explore

With sound-canceling earbuds and my camera in hand, I navigate the world, allowing each moment to become a piece of art. I invite you to browse through my selected works, where you can experience the stories told through the lens of my camera.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy exploring the gallery. Feel free to learn more about my journey and philosophy on the About page.
