Portrait: Karen E MichaelsKaren attended school for 20 years.
She received a National Science Foundation Grant to study environmental science.
She became a member of Gamma Theta Upsilon, an international honor socitey in geography.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Geoenvironmantal Science.
She also holds post graduate degree and certifications in Psychology.
She was published in the field of crisis intervention.

The ability to use her education was taken away, in the split second it takes two cars to collide. The result was a traumatic brain injury. She works with color and shape.

Some pieces are studies. others, are expression.

This is now her second life.
Regardless of differences,
She is grateful to be able to express herself visually.
In 2002, she had an original art piece published in, The Advocate, magazine.
Karen has won awards and competitions including National Wildlife, Ritz and Canon.
In 2006, Karen Exhibited a piece at the Open Door Gallery, Florida. In 2011, three pieces of Karen's work
began a 4 year traveling exhibit with the Great Explorations Children's Museum in St Petersburg Florida.
Also in 2011, Karen was a nominee for the 6th annual Black and White Spider awards.
Her work was also published in, The Photo Paper, Journal of Photography, winter, 2011.
In 2012, She completed her first circumnavigation around the globe.
In 2014, Karen won another Spider Award in wildlife category.
Also in 2014, Karen is exhibiting a piece in "CORRESPONDENCE", An international art Exhibition.
In 2015, her work is exhibited in an exhibition with Women in Focus, Atlanta.
In November, of 2015, Karen won another nomination for a Black and White Spider awarded, this time,
in architectural. Her work was published in their 2016 journal. She also received three Spider Award Nominations for her work in Abstract, People and Fine Art photography.
Sound canceling headphones and looking through a lens make her world manageable.
Karen is also a skilled jazz, blues and folk vocalist/musician.
